How long will my power tool last with a fresh charge?
That question can only be answered by how you use your power tool. For example, when using a drill your usage time can very based on the speed that you use. Also, what type of material you are drilling into, drilling into steel will use more power than drilling into wood or drywall for instance. However, here are some formulas to help give you an idea of how long the battery will last. Amp hours = number of amps x number of hours. Amp hours / number of amps = number of hours. How can I prolong the life of my battery?
There are several things you can do to help extend the life of your battery. First thing is to store it separate from the tool in which it belongs to. Do not leave it in the charger when it is fully charged. Second thing is to keep it in a place that has a fairly consistent temperature. Finally, if dealing with Nickel based batteries, make sure that the battery is fully discharged before recharging it.
Do I need to charge my new Laptop or Notebook battery?
A new battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use (refer to the devices manual for charging instructions). Upon initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the battery may require three to four charger/discharger cycles before achieving maximum capacity. When charging the battery for the first time the device may indicate that charging is complete after just 10 or 15 minutes. This is a normal phenomenon with rechargeable batteries. Remove the battery from the device, reinsert it and repeat the charging procedure.
Do I have to condition my Laptop or Notebook battery?
Yes, it is very important to condition or fully discharger and then fully charger the battery every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the battery's life (this does not apply to Li-ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharger, simply run the device under the battery's power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in the user's manual
