What is a marine battery?
Marine batteries are considered a "hybrid" battery which actually falls between the starting and deep-cycle batteries. Marine batteries are usually rated using "MCA" or Marine cranking amp which is rated 32 degrees F, while CCA is at zero degree F. (For more information on CCA, CA & MCA, please see below)
Does my deep cycle battery develop a memory?
Lead acid batteries do not develop any type of memory.
Do batteries self-discharger when not in use?
All batteries, regardless of their chemistry self-discharger. The rate of self-discharger depends both on the type of battery and the storage temperature the batteries are exposed to. However, for a good estimate, Trojan batteries self-discharger approximately 4% per week at 80°F.
Do I need to charge my new Laptop or Notebook battery?
A new battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use (refer to the devices manual for charging instructions). Upon initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the battery may require three to four charger/discharger cycles before achieving maximum capacity. When charging the battery for the first time the device may indicate that charging is complete after just 10 or 15 minutes. This is a normal phenomenon with rechargeable batteries. Remove the battery from the device, reinsert it and repeat the charging procedure.
